Playlist

There has been a lot of talk lately in my writing group about playlists for our particular writing projects. Mine is like holy ground to me—each song calls to mind a particular scene or emotion from my story. I'm very meticulous about the order in which the songs play.

It's had me thinking about how music can be such a catalyst for other forms of creativity, whether they be art, writing, design, or even making more music. Do you have a playlist for your project? If not, have you considered making one?

I've decided to share with you my playlist on Spotify. This is by no means complete—I will likely add more songs to this mix as I go. Right now, the first 19 songs are specific to Book One, the next 9 are for Book Two, and the final 9 are for Book Three. I do not have anything on here for Book Four just yet, probably because I'm working through this rough draft so quickly. I will take time to add more songs once I'm able to spend more time on it.

But I thought I would share, to give you an idea of some of the emotional themes in the books, if you're interested. The genres of the music range from electronica, to dub-step, to indie pop, to Christian pop. Not everything will be everyone's cup of tea, and that's fine. Because this list is what speaks to me for my book.

Take a listen if you want. Let me know what you think. Share your own playlist if you want to. I love how music can spark the creative, in so many ways.
